Skin Blemish Treatment
Why Do Skin Pigmentation Marks Form?
Skin discolouration occurs when cells called melanocytes produce excessive melanin, causing this pigment to accumulate in specific areas of the skin. Ultraviolet (UV) rays, in particular, directly trigger this process. When planning a pigmentation treatment protocol at our clinic, we conduct an in-depth analysis of the skin’s pigmentation density and its likely response to treatment. The new-generation light and laser systems we use target and break down only the pigment clusters in the spots, without causing any damage to the surrounding tissue, enabling the skin to naturally expel these pigments.Types of Pigmentation Treated at Our Clinic
Every pigmentation mark differs in depth, cause and structure. For this reason, under the supervision of specialist dermatologists at our clinic, we apply specific combinations of technologies tailored to each type of pigmentation mark:- Sunspots (Solar Lentigo): These are brown spots that form as a result of prolonged exposure to ultraviolet rays and typically appear on the face, décolletage and hands.
- Melasma (Pregnancy and Hormonal Spots): These are stubborn spots that appear in a map-like pattern on the cheeks, forehead and lips, particularly in women, due to pregnancy, the use of the contraceptive pill or hormonal imbalances.
- Age Spots: These are pigmentation disorders caused by a slowing of cell renewal as a result of ageing.
- Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation: These are dark marks left on the skin following acne, wounds, burns or incorrectly performed aggressive cosmetic procedures.
Comparison of Clinical Protocols and Conventional Methods
At-home skin-lightening creams or uncontrolled, aggressive peeling treatments can push the pigmentation deeper into the skin or irritate the skin barrier. The key differences of the premium pigmentation treatment protocol offered at Dr Terziler’s clinic are as follows:| Parameter / Feature | Dr Terziler VIP Pigmentation Protocol | Standard Pigmentation Creams and Cosmetics |
| Treatment Depth | Targets pigmentation in both the epidermis and dermis simultaneously | Has only a superficial effect on the outermost layer of the skin |
| Technological Infrastructure | Lumecca IPL, Medical Pigmentation Lasers and Exosome Therapy | No device support; contains only topical ingredients |
| Skin Barrier Protection | Very high; the skin barrier is strengthened whilst the pigmentation is lightened | Skin peeling and sensitivity due to aggressive acids |
| Risk of Recurrence | Minimal, as the root cause of the blemish is suppressed | Pigmentation typically returns when use of the product is discontinued |
| Process Management | Digital skin analysis and sessions supervised by a specialist doctor | An uncontrolled home regimen based on personal guesswork |

It is much safer to undergo pigmentation treatments during the autumn, winter and early spring months, when the effects of the sun’s rays are reduced. Pigmentation treatments are not recommended during the summer months, as they can increase the skin’s sensitivity to the sun.
Within 24–48 hours of a laser or Lumecca IPL treatment, the colour of the spots may temporarily darken. This is a sign that the pigments have been successfully broken down. Within about a week, these darkened areas will flake off at a microscopic level, revealing clearer skin underneath.
Superficial and medium-depth pigmentation marks are largely eliminated, whilst the colour of deep pigmentation marks is significantly lightened. However, the skin has a cellular memory; if the skin is not very well protected from the sun following treatment, new pigmentation marks may develop.
