How clinicians use these
Before an operation abroad, three things decide how smoothly it goes: whether your airway is safe under anaesthetic, whether your metabolic and kidney function are stable, and whether the symptom you travelled for is severe enough to justify the procedure. STOP-BANG answers the first, the eGFR and diabetes tools speak to the second, and IPSS, Oswestry and the Norwood scale put numbers on the third. Bringing these scores to your first consultation shortens the assessment considerably.
