Brow Lift

A brow lift, or forehead lift, raises eyebrows that have dropped and smooths the forehead by releasing the brow from its attachments, weakening the muscles that pull it down and fixing it at a higher level. Cuts are hidden in the scalp, at the hairline or in the upper eyelid crease.

It opens the eye area, reduces hooding at the outer upper lid and softens frown lines. It cannot be fine-tuned to the millimetre, an over-lifted brow looks permanently surprised, and the forehead muscles keep working, so lines return in part.

What Brow Lift involves

In the endoscopic method, three to five cuts of 1 to 2 cm are made behind the hairline. A thin camera and instruments are passed under the forehead tissues down to the bony rim above the eyes. The surgeon frees the tight ligaments that hold the brow down, taking care around the nerves that give feeling to the forehead, and trims the frown muscles between the brows. The brow is then moved up, mostly at its outer third, and secured with absorbable anchors in the skull, small bone tunnels with stitches, or deep sutures. A temporal lift works only on the tail of the brow through a cut in the temple hair. With a high forehead, the cut is placed at the hairline so the forehead is not lengthened.

Who is a good candidate for Brow Lift?

It helps when the brow position, not just eyelid skin, causes the heavy look.
