Dental prosthesis care is the upkeep of artificial teeth: full and partial dentures, implant-retained overdentures, and fixed bridges or full-arch prostheses on implants. It covers cleaning, adjustment, relining, repair and the regular checks that keep the mouth underneath healthy.
Prostheses wear and the jaw under them changes shape over the years, so a set that fitted well at first gradually loosens. Timely maintenance prevents sore spots, fungal infection and damage to the teeth or implants that hold the prosthesis.
Conditions this service looks after
- Loose or rocking dentures
- Sore spots and ulcers under a denture
- Denture stomatitis, a red fungal inflammation of the palate
- Cracked corners of the mouth (angular cheilitis)
- Broken denture base, fractured clasp or lost denture tooth
- Worn attachments on implant overdentures
- Inflammation or bone loss around implants under a fixed bridge
- Worn denture teeth and a collapsed bite
Tests you may be offered
- Fit and bite assessment: Pressure-indicating paste and bite marking show where the base rubs or the bite is uneven.
- Examination of the soft tissues: Looks for ulcers, fungal infection and any patch that needs a biopsy.
- X-rays of supporting teeth and implants: Check bone levels and decay under clasps and crowns.
- Implant probing and screw check: Fixed implant bridges are sometimes unscrewed for cleaning and inspection.
Treatments available
- Professional cleaning of the prosthesis: Ultrasonic bath and polishing to remove tartar and stain that brushing cannot.
- Adjustment: Easing pressure points and balancing the bite.
- Reline or rebase: New acrylic added to the fitting surface so that it matches the changed gum. Chairside in a day or through the laboratory in 1 to 2 days.
- Repairs: Fractures, new teeth and clasp replacement, usually within 24 to 48 hours.
- Attachment replacement: New nylon inserts or clips for implant overdentures, typically needed every 1 to 2 years.
- Treatment of denture stomatitis: Antifungal medicine, denture disinfection and leaving the denture out at night.
- Replacement: A new prosthesis when the old one is worn out, commonly after 5 to 10 years.
When to ask for a specialist opinion
- Your denture has become loose or you now rely on adhesive every day
- A sore spot has lasted more than 2 weeks
- The denture has cracked or a tooth has come off
- Your implant overdenture no longer clicks firmly into place
- It has been more than a year since anyone checked the mouth under your prosthesis
Travelling to Türkiye for this care
Relines, repairs and attachment changes are quick, so they fit easily into a short visit and are often added when you come for other treatment. A completely new set of dentures needs 4 to 5 appointments over about 7 to 10 days. Routine checks and small adjustments are better done near home, because new dentures almost always need easing in the first weeks. If your implant bridge was made abroad, carry the implant brand and component details so that any dentist can service it.
Send your reports, scans and a short history and a Clinic-Y coordinator replies within 24 hours with suitable teams and written, all-inclusive proposals side by side. Reviewing your case is free.
الأسئلة المتكررة
How should I clean dentures at home?
Brush them daily over a bowl of water with a soft brush and mild soap or denture cleaner, not toothpaste, which scratches. Soak in a denture cleanser and rinse well.
Should I sleep with my dentures in?
It is healthier to leave them out at night so that the gums recover and fungal infection is less likely.
Why has my denture become loose?
The jaw ridge shrinks slowly after teeth are lost. A reline restores the fit; very shrunken ridges may do better with implants to hold the denture.
Can I fix a broken denture with superglue?
Please do not. It rarely lines up correctly and makes a proper repair harder.
