In vitro fertilisation (IVF) stimulates the ovaries to mature several eggs, collects them, fertilises them with the partner's sperm in the laboratory and places a resulting embryo in the womb. Turkish law restricts assisted reproduction to married couples using their own eggs and sperm. Donor eggs, donor sperm, donor embryos and surrogacy are not permitted, and a marriage certificate is required.
IVF helps many couples with blocked tubes, male factor, endometriosis, ovulation problems or unexplained infertility. Its main limit is the woman's age and egg quality: the chance of a baby per cycle is roughly 30 to 40 in 100 under 35, and falls steeply after 40.
What In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) Treatment involves
After tests on both partners, the woman injects follicle stimulating hormone daily for 9 to 12 days, starting on day 2 or 3 of her period. Scans and blood tests every few days track the follicles, and a second medicine prevents early ovulation. When follicles reach about 18 mm, a trigger injection is given. Eggs are collected 36 hours later with a needle passed through the vaginal wall under ultrasound and sedation. The partner's sperm is prepared and added to the eggs, or injected by ICSI. Embryos grow in an incubator for 3 to 5 days. One embryo, occasionally two, is placed in the womb through a soft catheter. Progesterone support continues until the pregnancy test and beyond if positive.
Who is a good candidate for In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) Treatment?
IVF is for married couples who have not conceived with simpler treatment, or for whom simpler treatment cannot work.
- Blocked or damaged fallopian tubes
- Male factor infertility (usually with ICSI)
- Endometriosis or ovulation disorders after simpler treatment has failed
- Unexplained infertility of more than about 2 years
- Failed insemination cycles
- Couples needing preimplantation genetic testing for a known disorder
It is usually not the right choice if:
- Unmarried women, single men and same-sex couples, who cannot legally be treated in Türkiye
- Anyone who needs donor eggs, donor sperm, donor embryos or a surrogate
- Women whose ovaries no longer respond to stimulation
- Women with medical conditions that make pregnancy dangerous
- Couples hoping to select the baby's sex for non-medical reasons
الخيارات التقنية
- Antagonist protocol: The most used short protocol, with a lower risk of hyperstimulation.
- Long agonist protocol: Sometimes chosen for endometriosis or earlier poor synchronisation.
- Mild or natural-cycle IVF: Lower doses for poor responders or those who cannot take high doses; fewer eggs per cycle.
- Freeze-all with later frozen transfer: Used when hyperstimulation risk is high, progesterone rises early, or genetic testing is planned.
- Blastocyst transfer: Growing embryos to day 5 to help choose a single embryo.

Stimulation means one or two small injections under the skin each day, which most women give themselves. Egg collection takes 15 to 30 minutes under sedation and you go home after 1 to 2 hours. Embryo transfer takes 10 minutes, feels like a smear test and needs no anaesthetic. The two weeks of waiting afterwards are often the hardest part emotionally.
الإعداد لرحلتك
A fresh cycle needs about 15 to 20 days in Istanbul, or 10 to 12 days if stimulation starts at home with local scans. A freeze-all cycle splits into two visits: roughly 2 weeks for egg collection, then 3 to 5 days for a frozen transfer one or more months later.
- Tell the doctor about medication, allergies, pregnancy or breastfeeding, and any history of cold sores, keloid scars or autoimmune disease
- Avoid alcohol, aspirin and anti-inflammatory painkillers for a few days beforehand if your own doctor agrees, to reduce bruising
- Arrive without make-up on the treatment area and avoid sunbeds and strong sun for two weeks before
التعافي والنتائج
Bloating, breast tenderness and mild cramps are common for several days after egg collection. You can return to normal daily activity the day after transfer; bed rest does not help. The blood pregnancy test is 10 to 12 days after transfer and can be done at home. Flying after transfer is considered safe. Severe bloating, breathlessness or reduced urine need same-day medical review.
- Back to everyday activity: 1 to 2 days after egg collection
- When results show: Pregnancy test 10 to 12 days after transfer
- How long they last: One cycle; spare embryos can be frozen
سياسة السلامة والمخاطر والتنقيح
IVF is generally safe but places real physical and emotional demands on you.
- Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome, severe in about 1 in 100 cycles
- Twin or triplet pregnancy when more than one embryo is transferred
- Bleeding or infection after egg collection, which is uncommon
- Ectopic pregnancy
- Cycle cancellation for poor response, or no embryos to transfer
- Miscarriage, at a rate that rises with age
- Emotional strain and the possibility of no pregnancy after several cycles

Cost of In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) Treatment in Türkiye
Clinic-Y does not publish a single price for In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) Treatment, because the honest figure depends on your case. What moves it:
- Medication, which varies widely with age and ovarian reserve
- ICSI, blastocyst culture and other laboratory steps
- Embryo freezing, annual storage and frozen transfers
- Genetic testing of embryos
- Pre-treatment tests or procedures such as hysteroscopy

الأسئلة المتكررة
Who can legally have IVF in Türkiye?
Married heterosexual couples using their own eggs and sperm. You will be asked for your marriage certificate and passports. Donation of any kind and surrogacy are prohibited, and clinics cannot refer you abroad for them.
How many embryos are transferred?
Regulations allow one embryo in the first two cycles for women under 35, and up to two in later cycles or from age 35.
Is there an age limit?
There is no single legal cut-off, but clinics assess ovarian reserve and rarely treat with own eggs beyond the mid-40s because success is very low.
Can I start medication at home?
Often yes, with scans from a local clinic, arriving about a week before egg collection.
How many cycles will I need?
Many couples need two or three. Cumulative chances over several cycles are more meaningful than any single cycle figure.
